While a young man growing up in Provo, Utah, Dr. Bradley Porter was first exposed to the practice of oral surgery during a visit to his best friend’s uncle. He says, “After observing his practice, I knew it was what I wanted to do.” His determination to become an oral surgeon remained with him through his undergraduate years at Brigham Young University and helped him excel in his studies at the University of Iowa - College of Dentistry, where he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society. He remained at the University of Iowa to complete his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Porter explains, “I love oral surgery because of the variety of procedures I am able to perform – from minor surgical procedures to major reconstructive cases. I get a lot of satisfaction from changing patients’ lives for the better.” Dr. Porter and Jan, his wife were married in 1980. They have five children and two grandchildren. Their family has enjoyed traveling together to Hawaii, Ireland and Australia. Dr. Porter is also an accomplished athlete, having completed numerous Ironman triathlons including the World Championship in Hawaii as well as the Boston Marathon. An Eagle Scout, he also enjoys fishing and being involved in various capacities with the Boy Scouts organization. Dr. Porter has held Board Certification through the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1993. For him, “Oral Surgery is not just a job – I can’t image myself doing anything other than being an oral surgeon.” Even at home he has been called upon to stitch up cuts for the local children. Once, he came to the rescue of a neighbor’s dog that had been hit by a car. “People trust me and know I have their best interest at heart.”
Dr. Porter has been honored as a "Top Dentist" in Phoenix Magazine since 2003..
